How to Choose the Best RF Security Antennas
Security
is a major concern for shop owners. Retailers selling a variety of products may
find that just one single solution is not effective and would like something
that works across a wider range of products. Stands are fine for electronic
devices but what about the hundreds of other products, some of them expensive?
In such cases, one way to ensure security and prevent theft is to have hard
tags attached to each product. The tag works in conjunction with antennas. Most
such systems work on radio frequency with short operational range so as not to
interfere with other devices.
Such RF security antennas can be installed at entry and exit points. A simple system is an antenna that works with RF wireless tags. Any tag that comes within range is detected by the antenna that triggers an alarm and thus prevents that item from being carried out without deactivation at the checkout counter.
A
more sophisticated option is an antenna that can be linked to a PC. This works
for a majority of products, especially food retailers. Connection to a PC means
the system can be monitored remotely and with self tuning functions, false
triggering does not take place. Software in the PC also filters out noise that
could cause interference.
